    Nevermind.

    Live and let live.

The age-old (moral/political) authoritarian approach has been tried and found crushing too many innocent bystanders and, equally importantly, crushing free will and whatever the trial-and-error ways of humanity have mustered to get us this far.

And for the record (no pun intended), I'm not a fan of hip-hop nor various other inane and often hedonistic forms of entertainment, but if they rock somebody's world so be it. As long as it's NIMBY, literally that is!

So - it's ok to punish hate speech when its spoken or shouted in a KKK march, but if you add a musical background then it becomes art and we should all defend it?

I guess I'm the only one here that loves hip hop and tattoos!

Anyhoo, whatever your tastes, surely folks can see this for what it is? Big Brother fears the youth, they fear anything that could develop into a counter culture, or promote rebelliousness or subversion.

Some Chinese rapper should make a Chinese version of this.

Not really. You just posted your liking of a music genre that is now not approved by the CCP. How does that make you feel?

I would say it depends on the purpose. If it is to incite hate or crimes then it should be banned. If it is to entertain then it is fair game.

What about all the artists that ply their trade focusing on the sad and depressed - should they be banned?

That's like saying someone painted a pornographic picture, so let's ban painting.

Does anyone know what Chinese hip hop is like? Has it adapted significantly to the culture, or is it still largely a knock off of American hip hop?
