China develops microwave radar weapon system

China develops microwave emitter to quell unrest
Microwave Active Denial System is designed to project millimeter microwaves at targets and stimulate their nociceptors – sensory neurons commonly known as the “pain nerve” – in a bid to subdue targets and disperse them
Significant injury with blisters, pain and nerve damage can occur even with exposures to strong microwaves as short as two to three seconds. Due to the deep penetration of these frequencies, the skin may be minimally affected and show no signs of damage, while muscles, nerves, and blood vessels may be significantly damaged.
Chinese designers hail the system as non-lethal but highly effective and can be deployed in situations including counter-terrorist operations, anti-riot response, VIP protection during major events, plus maritime convoy missions and border defense, among others.

Could probably defeat it by throwing foil over it.

Or the wave collected, amplified, then fired straight back, like you can already do with conventional radar..

On a military point of view, this isn't actually all that interesting, but if they are planning on using this shiz on their own people, protesters etc in the future, that's pretty messed up.

The leopard or should I say, Panda? is now starting to display its true spots and just how sharp it's teeth and claws will be.

    Not good, at all.

Wonder how this system was tested to confirm it works the way it is expected to...

    O tempora, o mores.

Microwaves were discovered already in the 1800s with the legendary polymath Chandra Bose being the first to produce mm waves. When it became practical microwaves started to be used for communications and later in other useful things like ovens.

Imagining and using microwaves as a weapon of repression that leaves no obvious evidence of its use (besides the victims of course) requires some genuinely meritocratic mindset and establishment.

If a psychopathic regime with an army of sociopathic enforcers came up with this what could possibly go wrong. Well nothing in their minds obviously. Rule-by-law and all that.

While it may sound harsh, the people are ultimately responsible for the actions they allow to be taken in their name. Even if trying to hold the regime accountable will result in the people getting microwaved to early retirement or kingdom come.
