    CCP - Celebrating 100 years

Patriotic films. History lessons. Mass weddings. The Chinese Communist Party is going into overdrive to celebrate its 100th birthday.

Addig to the 100-year celebration, China just put into orbit the first module of its new Space Station.

An impressive technical achievement no matter who you are.

More correct comparison is to the Mir Station, which Soviets put into orbit in the late 1980s. And it stayed up there for over a decade.

New China Station is comparable in size to the Mir.

The '71 Soviet Station was tiny in comparison. And didnt last long in orbit.

17% of China still live in poverty for a lower middle income country seems quite high

Space exploration is cheap. Compared to military spending...US spends 15% of budget on military, compare to just 0.5% on space exploration. i assume China spending is similar porportionally.
