Beijing 2022 - Winter Olympics News

Saw this on CNBC and figured its time to start a news thread to follow developments related to Beijing 2022.

No clue if HK SAR residents will be allowed to buy tickets and freely travel to watch the games.

A 21-day quarantine for non-fully vaccinated athletes, officials and workers at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Daily testing for vaccinated people. No tickets sold to anyone living outside China as Olympic venues open their doors again.
Guests of stakeholders such as sports bodies, sponsors and broadcasters will also be excluded again.

North Korea have been banned by the IOC from the Winter Olympics as punishment for refusing to send a team to the Tokyo Games citing the COVID-19 pandemic.

In another departure from the Tokyo Games, where fans were banned altogether, spectators will be allowed at competition venues in Beijing in some capacity. But, according to the I.O.C., tickets will be limited to those residing in mainland China “who meet the requirements of the COVID-19 countermeasures.” The specifics of those requirements, the organization said, were still under discussion.

Pigs must be flying because among the organizations that co-signed that letter are those by HK'ers advocating for HK'ers rights.

21 day quarantine hinted at for unvaccinated participants.

No word on the athletes needing booster shots within a certain time window before the games.

China plans to quarantine athletes competing at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics for 21 days if they have not been vaccinated, according to initial guidelines released Monday.

Exceptions may be granted for athletes and team officials on a case-by-case basis for medical reasons, according to the first version of the “Playbooks” that were released by the Beijing organizing committee, the International Olympic Committee and the International Paralympic Committee. These rules also apply to stakeholders including officials, sponsors and media.
