This shows the liberal's superficial knowledge of the world.

The WTA has been making money in China for so many years, don't tell me they are just discovering the true nature of China today.

For what happened in Xinjiang, the WTA did not say anything and continued to make money. For the things that happened in Hong Kong in 2019, they also continue to make money by not caring.

Compared with these really big things, the Peng Shuai incident was more of a dispute caused by her and Zhang Gaoli's affair that lasted more than 10 years. It is not even worth mentioning.

Have we found it? The most devoid-of-intellect post ever in the history of GeoExpat? I say yes.

Sure, but you have to admit there is more motivation for the WTA, which is a global association for women tennis players, to act when the missing woman is an, erm, women's tennis player?

    Politics is not the same.

This is a player who is a member of their association. They must speak for her and they are right to do so.

If an Uyghur player disappeared for posting something online I’m sure they’d have an opinion on that as well.

Likewise, in the Chinese system, an athlete belongs to the state and is regulated by the state in every word and action. This is a fact that the WTA knew even before it entered the Chinese market.

Even if someone wants to change this fact (and China has been unmoved by the 2019 Hong Kong movement and the Xinjiang issue, it is impossible to change China in this way), they should use some stronger excuses (however, I believe that most people have not read Peng Shuai's article in its entirety, and the media has only magnified a small part of the accusation out of context)

I thought the IOC wouldn't have the balls to challenge China on this, but to be a complict part of the system is 100x worse. What a horrific corrupt venal nasty organisation.

Has she gone missing? It is now confirmed no

Was her interview yesterday staged? Of course, she is part of the state system, like an employee of a company.

What about the investigation into the sexual assault? If people read her original article, she actually made it very clear that there is nothing to investigate.

It is true that in the article she did say that she was forced, but she was later clearly to say that she actually agreed to have sex with him because she harbored 7 years of affection and love for him, and she talked more about their personalities being a good match. But later found that he could not have other development besides sex, she regretted it again. It's all from the article she wrote

It is a very long article and it talks more about her feelings for him, and I don't see a single Western media making any relevant quotes, except for one about the sexual assault allegations.

Frankly speaking, this kind of extramarital affair case could not even be sued in Hong Kong.

Well you’re saying WTA didn’t know Peng can’t speak freely, but it seems Peng didn’t even know that herself as she’s the one who started it all by posting the story.

Her mistake was not sharing this while playing overseas.
