April 2022 - China Covid News

This report does imply that the number of cases is just a little bit more than indicated in official counts.

Zhao is panicking even more after images of crying Covid-19-positive children separated from their parents went viral in China.

The photos and videos posted on China's Weibo and Douyin social media platforms showed wailing babies kept three to a cot. In one video, a groaning toddler crawls out of a room with four child-sized beds pushed to one side of the wall. While a few adults can be seen in the videos, they are outnumbered by the number of children.

Reuters was not immediately able to verify the images but a source familiar with the facility confirmed they were taken at the Jinshan facility.

Much respect to Dr Zhu Weiping, an infectious disease expert in Pudong CDC. You can always count on Chinese women to hold up more than half the sky.

May you not suffer the fate of Dr Li Wenliang.

Yesterday 11781 asymptomatic cases where recorded in China, 7788 in Shanghai. Asymptomatic are reported separately in China.

The higher the number, the sooner everything goes back to normal. 加油!

At least things are finally in motion. HK was in standstill and agony for the entire H2 of last year. Then we got overrun by Omicron and a lot of good things started to happen (e.g. 3 weeks travel q to 1 week). A lot more could happen, but that is blocked by the Zero-Covid doctrine god-given by Beijing.

If the virus is still the same in Shanghai and they won't kick it's butt, this will sooner or later change the given direction by the government. I don't know how long it will take and how much more pointless lockdowns it will take, but things are changing for a better (in terms of Covid policy).

A few days ago, in a community in Pudong, Shanghai, residents collectively signed a joint letter. The letter mentioned that if there are positive residents in the building, based on the principles of scientific rationality and humanistic care, if there are no signs of serious illness, all residents are willing to cooperate with their neighbors.” No eviction, no forced transfer, mutual assistance between neighbors, and shared responsibility.” According to a resident of the community, one of the buildings in the community participated in the joint signature, and other buildings responded after seeing it and were willing to cooperate and assist. "Everyone thinks that if they are positive, they should stay at home consciously, cooperate with the government to prevent epidemics, and help each other. There is no intention to fight against the government. The square cabin beds are tight, so we will not occupy resources." However, according to the resident, that night Positive residents have received calls from the CDC and will be taken away for quarantine.

Jin Dongyan: There is no need to close the city and it is useless to send a mild case to the hospital

When the people are more rational than the authorities, it signals something…
