I wonder what took them so long to cotton on. These brands got ripped out of US military sites 2-5 years ago because they had hardcoded backdoors.

(Off memory, they are two of the biggest manufactures of IP cameras. Hikvision has been tied closely to surveillance and facial recognition projects in Xinjiang.)

Australia had to wait until the relationship with China improved before making the 'news' announcement.
The procurement for new cameras was done ages ago...

This seems a bit beyond the usual app privacy issues. Please feel free to move out as awareness/alert thing whether for PinDuoDuo specifically or China apps in general (assuming not necessarily an isolated problem) if thought appropriate.
