Yes old but I haven't seen it here yet.. or is this too old..

I assume there are no innocents in Macau's gambling industry. But I am absolutely fascinated by how there is no details of the actual evidence trail.. and I cannot find any more info at all from anywhere across all the media. The writeup here is as detailed as you get.

I have no insight at all to how Macau or this industry ticks.. my interest set off just from that first article. It still looks to me like they decided to wipe out one junket operator so it can split up its assets amongst the govt and the casino operators ;p

So was Genting bidding for the licence as the surprise 7th hopeful just a red herring from the govt or it wasn't but managed to lose out in the end through negotiations behind the scene..

The 224-page indictment, seen by Nikkei Asia, offers a glimpse into details of the case against Chau and 20 former Suncity executives..

The allegations, which have not been tested in court, claim that Suncity ran under-the-table betting that saw junket agents and gamblers privately agree to multiply the original wager by 20 times or more
That's why I'm so fascinated.. there are no details of the actual evidence trail. There is however a lot of narrative details about the alleged evidence trail :p

Also most impressed with Alvin Chau's response. This is imo as good a response you can get to if you want to insist on your innocence, without endangering personal safety while at the same time without burning any bridges. 18 years might just pass in a flash..

Chau said last month that in more than 10 years of running VIP junket rooms at casinos all around the world, his business had never encountered legal issues.

"I don't know why Suncity is considered a criminal syndicate," he said.

"Until today, my coworkers have not seen a cent of criminal proceeds. We have never given extra remuneration for unlawful behavior
Notice his response did not actually deny doing what he was accused of doing. I think the response is all kinds of brilliant ;p
