Seems like there is a selective ban on iPhones across various sectors of the Govt... no one seem to have a clue which departments and how real or widespread this is in terms of foreign "designed" phones..

China ordered officials at central government agencies not to use Apple's iPhones and other foreign-branded devices for work or bring them into the office, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

In recent weeks, staff were given the instructions by their superiors in workplace chat groups or meetings, according to the report, which added that it wasn't clear how widely the orders were being distributed.

In other news ... China exports and imports have dropped 8 - 7% in August. Am curious to see if Tesla / Apple and other US brands who manufacture in China are included in the export numbers.

Exports in U.S. dollar terms fell by 8.8% in August from a year ago. That’s better than the 9.2% drop forecast by a Reuters poll.

Imports in U.S. dollar terms fell by 7.3% in August from a year ago, better than the 9% decline forecast by Reuters.

Imports have now fallen every month in 2023 so far from the year-ago period. Exports have fallen year-on-year for every month since April as global demand for Chinese goods wanes.
