To those tax residents in China who claim treaty rates US China

“The memorandum also says the US government should also review a 1984 tax deal with China that frees individuals and companies from double taxation. “Eliminating these kind of treaties just makes things very uncertain and complicated for investors because they don’t know if they’re going to be taxed,” Chorzempa said.”

Yay! US citizens in HK get to be more like US citizens in the mainland? It's good to see that many parties are doing what they can to make China (I mean HK) more like HK (I mean China).

My prediction is that those subjected to unfair tax laws (passed elsewhere without representation) won't ever enjoy benefits of a tax treaty between the US and HK because such a treaty will never exist, but I hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't bet on it.
