Opening up the transport market with the addition of modern Sampans sounds like a great idea but...

I don't see the point. Where are they going to go? There's barely any business around the waterfront.

That's the issue. The waterfront is primarily government land

A lack of small piers and business operating at the waters edge

Short Routes : Wanchai to West Kowloon, Central to Hung Hom and similar.
Long Routes : Cental to Tuen Mun or Sai Kung to Noth Point.

If priced reasonably, people will use it. I somehow doubt the govt will give that much flexibility but it would be nice.

I would absolutely love it if it was allowed to operate like Uber Boat - start anywhere and end anywhere, for a price.

They should bring back the hovercraft service between TST to Central.

I guess once the cultural district and the central harbour front is complete, something like the Boston model would work here for the short routes.

Are you suggesting the Government frees-up the habourside and allows the private sectoe to build dozens of micro-piers and let the free market decide on routes?

Or a couple of subsidised routes to try to get people to visit the soon to be complete WKCD?

    I'm talking about viability.

A feasibility study will be conducted to suggest the means. Several things have to be considered such as cost, pollution, harbour congestion, etc.

Are you suggesting I should make up my mind now based on my ideological beliefs?
