We did see teams of riot police with shields arriving behind security, not sure where they were heading to.
Have a safe trip! Might see you in Portugal on a holiday soonish.

Is it just me or does anyone else have a premonition that today's protest at the airport could end on an uglier note than yesterday?

Flights departing have been cancelled for the second day in a row.

I expect many budget airlines that are in midair to turn around, like they did last night, as they cannot afford to have aircraft stuck in HK.

Some decent book shops and an unpretentious wine bar or three would be nice but a lot of jobs will be lost with all the consequences that follow in the process.

Frontline medical staff are on strike and holding their own rallies (not blocking the hospital)

but if they keep doing the same thing over and over, i'm afraid it will backfire. the sympathy would flip against the protesters.
I guess the big question will be, can the government sustain their "wait it out" strategy longer than the protesters can maintain public support

I would put my money on the government changing strategy sooner than protesters loosing significant public support if the airport stays closed.

How many locals really are inconvenienced by the airport closure? I bet far fewer than if the MTR is shut down.

Unsurprisingly large spike in short selling in Cathay (293) in the last couple of days. Short Selling – Stock Short Selling
