I RECEIVED THIS QUOTE TODAY. ITS JUST A ROUGH ESTIMATE AND THERE ARE THINGS I CAN DO MYSELF TO GET THE COST DOWN ETC... LIKE THE CRATE,THE TAPEWORM TREATMENT. DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT THOUGH? It sounds a bit steep to me. Can you get a breakdown of the individual costs? Some of these things can be done for free, like passport verification. If you are willing to handle it yourself, you may be interested to read the following experience of shipping dogs from Hong Kong to Italy. I know, not the same country, but the principle is the same. At the very least, get another quote from another pet relocation company.

Sounds excessive. You have a medium sized dog and a large part of cost is the actual container plus shipment. All the rest is admin and vet fees.

I shipped a large dog and a cat from the Canary Islands with transit in London, to Hong Kong, for a lot less than that three years ago.

Which company is quoting you this?

I thought (until recently) the cost would be about 22K to the UK, however recently I know a chap who has already left (a few months ago) without his dog, because he could not find firm to ship his bulldog to Australia for under 80K

i don't know who you used, but you can try:

    george @ international pet travel
    angela @ export-a-pet
    [email protected] ferndale

those are 3 with whom we have had extensive dealings.

the thing is that in order to get all of the stuff done in the correct time frame is time consuming and often tedious. if you do things out of order, you basically have to start again (at least that is my understanding).

We got quotes a year ago when we were considering moving back to the UK and they were all under $20k for everything included (10kg dog) so that seems way too steep.

I used stacy at ferndale about 7 months ago to move my 2 white german shepherds from PHX (USA) to HKG, both dogs should be much larger than your bulldog (maybe not in weight but in height and length and crate size), and the cost per dog was much lower than you were quoted. Of course you can not really compare as air freight from the UK to HKG will be at a different rate than USA to HKG. I checked with 3 other pet transport brokers and Ferndale was the the 2nd most competitive quote. Would recommend getting a few more quotes to determine the fair price for the door to door transport.

    Hi all,
Sorry for the delay in my reply but Ive been searching goodness knows how many sites and airlines etc..... I found ONE! who will transport her and the cost for that isnt anywhere near what I was quoted. This comes to around 7=8 thousand HKD but is without the transfers, documentation etc.... I think we are going to do it ourselves. Im in the process of finding out everything I will need. Not too difficult by the looks of things. I do however have to fly her to Heathrow which is about 400 miles away from where we need to be but the main thing is that I get her home with me.
I am still asking for quotes from different companies though and Ive contacted all the ones you mentioned carang (pssst hows the daycare going? :0) ). Will keep you all posted.
