HELP! Cats need new home I am totally clueless

    Hello,

I have two kittens but I am relocating to US next month.

If I could I would move them with me to San Francisco but I have no idea how much it would cost per cat and how to go about sorting it out.

Alternatively I was hoping to find them new home and give them away. If anyone is interested please contact me!

    Any advice would be appreciated!!

When you adopted the cats, did you research prior how much it would be to keep them? I live in a village out backwater of Lantau, and every year, we have dogs and cats ' left to rot or survive ' on their own in the hope that someone will adopt them. Well, it doesn't always happen. My neighbours and I have already rescued two dogs ( one died from kidney failure as a young age, and the other after we drove it bleeding in a bad way to the local ver, she decided to keep it.) that the owner decided that they couldn't afford or bother paying for medical treatment, that were dumped in our villages. I have cats as well, new ones at my door. Obviously previous housepets. Now strays . We brought our lovely BSH street cat to HK from Dubai ( and again with another move on the horizon soon) and it is not that expensive. Call or email George Yung at International Pet Travel. [email protected]. He is the best, honest and forthright. You may also call Kirsten's Zoo, or Jacqui Green at PALS. Google them both. Also SPCA.

*sigh* Here we go again... where do you have this information from?

    1. People will adopt kittens from the SPCA, and many, many older cats also even get adopted!
    2. The SPCA does not just kill animals, they will keep them indefinitely until they are adopted unless they become very ill or aggressive.

And to the OP, I don't know what your circumstances are, and I understand completely unexpected things can happen, but for anyone considering adopting kittens, these unexpected circumstances should be thoroughly taken into consideration. How much a pet costs if you have to relocate, if there is a remote possibility you'll have to relocate, if you can afford medical expenses for the next 20+ years of their lives, etc. Anyway, thank goodness these are still kittens and can probably easily find a new home and adjust well.

No, the SPCA will only euthanize if the animal is sick. They are overloaded and reading between the lines, the OP most likey bought them from one of these pet shops, and now she would rather spend money on a new pedicure or iphone than ship the kittens to her new home country with her. Call me harsh, but this is reality and it really pisses myself and animal fosterers, lovers, shelters etc off because we have seen it all every year. Dumping of kittens, puppies bought from pet stores or adopted because the owner did not think to the cost of keeping a cat or dog or hamster. Recently , there was a cage with a hamster dumped in Mui Wo because the owner didn't want it anymore. Seriously, these people should not breed. Nor keep domesticated animals.

No.. I adopted them from LAP but I lost my job and have too many debts now so I am moving back home. I checked pet relocation and it seems will be around 500 to 800usd per cat.

I will admit I was very impulsive when adopting them and had assumed I wouldn't fall into this position. Honestly just trying to see all options.

These are the same kittens that when people arrive in their host country adopt then discard at will......had one HK lady BEGGING and crying on the phone to me in Dubai to take in her siamese kitten because they adopted it as soon as they arrive in the UAE less than nine months ago but couldn't afford to take it back to HK with them....but they lived larger than us....and we took our cat with us, and still will, whether Singapore or Sweden...job , but we will take him and another but the cat disappeared mysteriously and the dog was adopted by the vet before we could say yes! These kittens are often left on the streets and Cecelia from Mid Levels Stray Cat Colony ends up feeding them, or they are left out in villages in Sai Kung and South Lantau. I live next door to six mongrels ( all abandoned but adopted by wonderful people) plus their cat ( who prefers to eat at our place). I just can't believe that people like this don't plan. Young and naive doesn't cut it. In our family, you die, the family inherit the pet along with the kids.

Kirsten at Kirstens Zoo. Jacqui from PALS has room but is leaving HK next week, as far as I know. I would foster but am leaving HK for a month after my job contract finishes in July. Look up Kirstens Zoo via Facebook. or google. my apologies for the rant but after five years here in HK, seen more than enough of this. I am thinking of the kittens welfare. Whatever you do, do NOT put them out onto the street as they will NOT survive. I know. Full stop.
