I've had both all my life (family pets growing up and my own as an adult)

My heart though lies with dogs. Rescue mongrels all the way, oldies are my choice. I have two 13-year-olds and just took in an 18-year-old village dog whose owners were unable to care for him any more. He'd always been an outside dog but took to the indoor life immediately Name: Three November 2015.JPG

We've got a silver point bsh and a blue chartreux (cats) and a German Shepherd. Love both dogs and cats but prefer pure breeds raised from young so you know what you are getting regarding temperament. Very important to me as we have children and would only consider having a dog I raised and trained from young. Our dog knows it's place within its family pack unit, and has been the best dog with our kids.

The greatest compliment anyone can give a cat is that it acts like a dog . . .

    Hehehe, interesting video.

Speaking for myself, given the cramp living environment of HK, a cat may seem more suitable thanks to their smaller size and lack of need to do long walks like dogs. But I personally prefer dogs given their greater empathy and obedience. But of course, many dog breeds are bigger, needing more space and walks. So the trick is to find a dog-like cat in HK...
