If sending to Singapore then you can take as excess baggage if you are on the same flight or send as manifest cargo if unable to take on the same flight.
Only Singapore airlines does cargo and only on a Saturday. Excess baggage has been stopped by Cathay to all ports so you only choice is SQ for excess baggage.
Under certain circumstances SQ will allow in cabin but you will still need a plastic crate to go in the hold as you will have to put your pet in it when you get off at Singapore as it then needs to be processed by state vet and customs and they will only accept it in a crate and not a soft bag.

The only cargo rule is only set by countries that dont allow entry as excess baggage or in cabin such as Hong Kong, UAE, UK, Australia, New Zealand and a few others.

Note that cargo is insanely expensive at the moment so take as excess baggage if you can and save a bundle but not you can only do excess baggage for pets the size of a medium size dog and below. Larger dogs would most likely have to go as cargo

Thank you! good to know the Saturday thing.

We have 2 large cats. and would be great if we can check them in as excess baggage.

Curious, do the companies that help you with documentation still help if you choose this route?

Yes, they will still help you if you are taking as excess baggage as you still need to get various permits and blood tests done and also a visit with the state vet here in HK.
