Looking for a large breed young pup

Hi I am new here, and live in China. We lost our 14 year old German Shepherd 3 months ago and would like to get another pup. We all miss him a lot. I have been in touch with HKDR, and they have us in mind for a pup. But if anyone knows of a large breed young pup that needs a home we would be very interested. We have made rounds of many pet shops and so called breeders but could not get any pup home. The conditions that they are housed in are apalling to say the least, and they run the risk of all sorts of ailments. Pet health care is lacking tremendously in China, it would be awful to lose a pup soon after we get him home.
The pup has to be young and small since we have a 4 year old child that needs to get used to the new family member. We would gladly consider a large breed mix too. My husband and daughter want a big dog.

I know you've already been in touch with the HKDR but definitely check out their Homing Days anyway if you are ever in Hong Kong, as a lot of their pups are with Sally in Lamma Island, and she brings them into town on those days. It's also a good chance to bring your kid along to check them out (and vice versa!).

Normally Homing Day is every Sunday at Whiskers N Paws in Ap Lei Chau Horizon Plaza (10th Flr), but I'd check before you show up in case they're not there for some reason. And thank you for trying to save a pup instead of buying one and supporting some appalling pet breeders.

You can also check SAA (Society of Abandoned animals) and SPCA.

SAA is in Yuen Long. There is a bus from mainland to Yuen Long.
