Mildly venomous and harmless. Admire and leave be. Unless you pose a danger to the snake, no need to call the AFCD.

I was more worried about the dogs since they are always outside.

Always outside, even when you go to work? I would think that the dogs pose more of a danger to the snake than the reverse. If my dogs saw a snake....I was so worried last summer that they would see one of these European Vipers and go for it, getting bitten in the process. Can you train your dogs to avoid wildlife? Mine are hunting dogs - beagles so no chance. I have tried. But their bark would alert me immediately to the potential danger. In HKG, it is difficult to prevent snakes from entering your yard as they like hot places, cool places, can swim so no use cutting back bush and trees, and sulphur definitely does not work on snakes. In fact it would kills your dogs...just when out walking, keep them on a leash.
