    Moving pet to UK?

This week BA stopped their pet service to UK. Mainly due to the huge backlog of 1000s of requests per day for the 8 spots available. Due to new passenger ban, BA are unable to ship.
Cathay are still undecided if they will continue or not but have raised their rates substantially across the board. Dont expect much change out of 50k for shipping a cat.
Excess baggage to Amsterdam then pet taxi to UK is now the most realistic way to get your pet to UK but expect this to get difficult as 1000s of pet holders are waiting to move. Dont think this will ease up till the BNO migration slows down.

Thge only other possibility is Turkish Air and apparently you're better off flying to Dublin, then transfer by land to the UK.

turkey has its fair share of challenges. i'm hearing that Frankfurt is the way forward (not dublin). a friend is returning to Cork and is flying to Frankfurt with his wife and 2 dogs. then crossing by land to France. then ferry to Cork.

Wow, depressing news. In other depressing news, US has banned import of dogs from around 100 countries due to (what they say) is people faking rabies vaccinations and the general worry that rabid dogs will enter. Which is a really dumb move- just ask for blood tests, impose private quarantine at animal hospitals, anything rather than strand the dogs overseas.

How is it getting cats to other locations like Zurich via Swiss Air? Or Korea?

Japan requires a rabies antibody test + 6 months wait, correct?

It's helpful you posted this today... was thinking to ask. I'm considering if it's viable to get my cats out of HK to seek specialist medical treatment they can't get here... becoming a matter of life or death.

EU isnt such a problem. LH has embargoed UK till November. Swiss and KLM will go to LHR once per week but be prepared to handover some serious cash ($200k for a labrador on KLM)

for US Korean is your only option for excess baggage. CX want at least 40k

Lufthansa used to, like many of the airlines used to but you’d have to contact them directly. Is there not a vet here, like Dr Maggie from 9Lives, if she’s still around?

BA are now open for bookings but you can only apply once per ship number.

From 23rd August 2021 onwards, BA have introduced a self-filling online booking form at https://forms.office.com/r/B7Uzgu4xBW .
