    Hi,

a friend who has since left Hong Kong bought a pedigree Labrador pup for his kids from a German lady breeder based in the Sai Kung Country park in 2020. Apparently there was a waiting list at the time but kids get a much better experience with the process than just picking a dog out of the local pet shop. Their operation is called Grifoncino Labradors and the lady’s name was Julia

According to website she is AFCD licensed but obviously do your due diligence. Good luck

    Got it, looks interesting.

I see that they only allow you to raise a puppy temporarily or adopt retired service dogs - assume it would be difficult to just pick one up that did not "pass the test"?

    Regardless, will contact.

I actually stumbled across this site a while back.

Emailed the owner but have received no response. Any idea whether this organization is still active here in HK?

@wallstreetoasis just FYI, the charities DO get labs and golden retrievers, so reach out to a few. It may take some waiting, and some willingness to work with them, as they want to ensure you can provide a loving life-long home. Villa Kunterbunt has a golden retriever puppy now that has a congenital defect so was dumped by a breeder. With some corrective surgery, she can live a normal life though.

(And if you think $60k for corrective surgery is expensive, then really think again about getting a pet. We recently forked out over $100k trying to provide cancer treatment for one of ours...)

I'll note it's close to Christmas time.... pets made very bad presents. Charities will be weary of that.
