    Hi there,

I think there is patience and there is patience. Some cats are talkative and some are not. You don't know the history sadly, so it may be the cat was abadoned or left and he is so used to calling out.

Either way if feliway does not help, then maybe this is not the cat for you. Some cats don't suit everyone and as said before, its no reflection on you as an owner.

Devoicing. I know this was an off the cuff remark......you can tell very much that you care for your cat, otherwise you would not have bothered to try different things.

You will get there, I know how difficult it is when they wake you at silly hours and sleep deprivation is the worst of all tortures. Ear plugs aside, try feliway and maybe a cat specialist.

Good luck, but don't feel bad if you have tried everything and it still doesn't work. ...Maybe this cat needs to be in an environment with other animals or access to outside when he gets the confidence. At least you were willing to try.

    Problem with cat

Sorry for the very late reply but I was really irritated at other folk on their high-horses making smart-ass comments without contributing any useful advice. I'd like to see any of them offering their home and a life to a cat with FIV, hiring a maid just for the cat etc.

I really appreciate your comments because I was really at my wits' end and still am. My poor cat is lonely and I have tried private avenues to find him a better home than mine, but as soon as any prospective "cat-lover" hears he is FIV positive, suddenly they are no longer interested.

I have been working with him and he has good days and bad, still wakes me up 50% of nights and is highly needy. Travelling lots does not help and in hindsight it was poor judgment on my part to think I could offer a good home to a cat. On the other hand, I have friends working longer hours than me who have lone cats, who are quite happy. Mine has a maid who comes in once a day and is still crying. Obviously the wrong cat as well.

I bought Feliway on eBay and will try it. But thank you for your encouragement. No idea what I am going to do with him but I am still hoping to find him a good home some day. Either way, I know I am on my own in this.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who offered my advice and understanding. I am going to close this thread now.
