where to live with a active dog

    Hi,

Me, my girlfriend our dog are moving to Hong Kong in September. We were wondering if anyone had any tips on where to live if you want to be close to a)dog park b) hiking trail c) or any other area where you can walk the dog. We are going to be working in Admirality, so wherever we choose to live it should be fairly easy to get there.

We did scroll some of the old threads, but they seemed to old that we are unsure if they are up-to-date.

    Bowen road
    Robinson road
Central / Mid-level is the best for taking the dog for walks.

There are not much Dog parks here.

with no mention whatsoever of budget, it is pretty difficult to make suggestions.

would HATE to take dogs for a walk in mid-levels! not my idea of a good walk.

    depending on budget:
    happy valley
    the peak
    pok fu lam
    south island
    discovery bay
    jardine's lookout
sai kung (not too close to admiralty, but not too bad)
    clearwater bay

Most of the mid-levels is indeed an awful place to have an active dog (Robinson Road certainly; Bowen Road is better but EXTREMELY expensive).

Carang's list is much more sensible, but as she said it really depends on budget and how long you're prepared to spend on the commute.

If your dog is over 20kg then the only places it can run off-leash are in the Country Parks unless it passes a test.

Um, also try to look for star street, where you can also get up to bowen road. But there are a lot of steps but it is a good workout for your legs.

    Or, go for this.

Star street - Kennedy road - Cut to Cotton tree Dr - head to Garden Rd - (Cheung Kong) and come back to star street from Queensway Road. 30 MINS

Star Street - and if you go for Bowen Rd. and cut @ Macdonnell rd - head to Garden Rd (Cheung Kong) and come back to star street from Queensway Road. 1 hr to 1 hr 30 mins depends on your fitness level

Absolutely all of which is on paved roads (and apart from Bowen Road, paved rounds with buildings all around). You really have no clue whatsoever about "active dogs" do you?

Conduit Road near the end of the morning trail is worth looking at, if it suits your budget. Within 5 mins you can be in the country park with the dog off leash and some of the trails are dirt not concrete, there is also pinewood battery for a good run around, chasing sticks etc. Realty Gardens for example allows dogs and is cheaper than some of the other blocks around there as it's not brand sparkling new.
