Lucky for you the e-mail didn't say "would you like to move to North Korea"

The European economy is dead! I have a lovely 4 bedrooms detached house in a lovely countryside village in England... I have a really good life here ( I am originally from France), yet I am moving to HK next year because my husband has been offered a promotion there within his company. We don't really want to go and we will do it for 5 years or so but nothing beat Europe!
The weather and accommodation are a huge issue but if we will stay there a few years, we can come back to Europe and walk into any job we want. Only Chinese people live in HK, we just come by and try to enjoy it for a while before we go back to our proper homes! Family reasons? Unless you are Chinese what would that be? If I had children I would not even consider this move : pollution, crowds, small accommodations, society of pure consumption... What kind of life is that for children? I am going to miss the UK so much!

Eh? What about the tens of thousands of foreigners who have made HK their home? I certainly have no desire to return to the UK with its high taxes, alcohol-fuelled yob culture and non-functional public services.

So many factual errors in that post.

The European economy might not be strong but hardly dead as it is not even in recession

Only Chinese live in Hong Kong? So why are you on an expat website?

After 5 years in HK you can walk into any job you want in Europe - why? I've been here 5 years and still Man Utd won't give me a chance.

With your attitude you are going to have a miserable time here I fear.

The only thing that could (and may, in the future) drag me back to that hell-hole called the UK is my parents getting very sick. And only then for as long as it takes until they recover/die.

    Talking

Well, after a few upheavals with finding stable jobs - funnily enough, great in Europe, but not so in Australia or UK. My husband has had enough of Dubai, whereas I don't mind it. But two years ago, I mentioned off the cuff, that I could imagine living in HK or Singapore, and he agreed. Forgot about it, then two years later, hubby gets a transfer to HK - new life, new experiences, can't wait till Oct!
