Why did you come to Hong Kong?

Just wondering why people came to Hong Kong to live. Family reasons, curious about living here, other half got a great job in HK so had to move? Would love to hear the reasons!

2. chance to live in another foreign country
3. so close to other destinations (Beijing, Seoul, Taiwan, etc.)

i came in 1995 for a week's holiday... kinda got stuck! it's been the LONGEST week of my life! in the not too distant future, i'll reach the 1/2-of-my-life-here mark!

The first time, I worked in a cushy private school to pay off my Australian provisional tax. To my total amazement, fell in love with the place and the people.
Then had lots of adventures in lots of different places but didn't manage to settle any more than a cat on a hot tin roof, and finally made my way back here late last year - wouldn't be anywhere else (despite an rs job, but am more than half-way through the contract already ), and putting down roots as deep and fast as I can

Europa is for the last two years in a deep crises, in America the situation seams not better, I think Asia is the future, Hong Kong is a good place to start with Asia, isn't it? ENglish is an official language, even if not everyone speaks english, the people has a good education and the life is not that expensive, except the houses, compare to Europa.
