    Ignorance isn't bliss.

    Hello.

HKG Idenity Card: How vital is this? I refer to seeking a unit to live in while
I await the plethora of paper-work to be screened.

Unfair dismissmal: Is an Idenity Card required before a claim can be made?

    Thanks in advance.

Probably a good idea to get your ID card before you're even in a position to get dismissed!

Assuming you have a work visa (or you're a dependent of someone who does), your ID card should be issued within a couple of weeks. In the meantime I think they issue you with a temporary ID.

If you're working (legally) on an employment visa then the law says you have to apply for an ID card within 30 days. Don't know about other visas, but this is what I was told when I arrived here to work

yes, an id card is good to have for getting stuff, like cred card, phone etc. also feels better to belong like that.

how can you be unfairly dismissed if you don't have a HKID card...
by law you MUST get one if your here over a certain period of time...

ignorance of the law does not excuse breaching it...at least that's what immig will say...
