    Entering Hong Kong

We are retired U.S. citizens and would like to spend five months (November through March) in Hong Kong because we love the environment and want to escape the US winter.

We plane to spend about two and one half months in Hong Kong, leave for a week's visit to Japan and then return for approximately another two and one half months.

We are not planning on getting a visa. Does anyone see any problems for us?

We will have tickets to Japan with us when we enter HK.

you will have no problem at all. if your tourist visa expire, you make a daytrip to macau and you get a new visa again. the immigration is very understanble and flexible with retired poeple from US.

We're not planning on getting a tourist visa, but just enter as visitors.

We have travelled to HK for business and pleasure and never had a visa.
    Is one necessary now?

    hello

When you arrive at Hong Kong you will have to fill out a small form. At immigration you will be given a chop in your passport, this is a visitors visa for a set amount of time.

    Thanks Emigra.

Do you think they will give us a hard time if we say we are going to stay two and one half months, either the first time or the second time?

If your intention is to visit Hong Kong for the period that you are allowed to visit for then there is usally no problem.
