Smile Are there seasonal high/lows for rent in HK?

    Hi,
I'm looking to move at the end of the year. As it's my first year living here I'm seeking the advice of someone who's rented for a few years in HK.
Does anyone know if there are seasonal high/lows for rent in HK?

Also, I am thinking of buying a dog. I know in Australia there are dog friendly areas. Is there such areas in Hong Kong? In particular areas that are more open to renting to dog owners?

Suggestions on a breed suitable for apartment life would be great! (Home 80% of the time so I can give it attention, however the place will probably be around 700SQ/FT
    Much appreciated!

You might want to try the Hong Kong Dog Rescue or the SPCA before you go out and pay money to a breeder.

Seasonal high and lows are more or less the same everywhere. Parents may like to move to place closer to the kids school before the start of the school year...

However if you are looking for a bargain price I found that it is best to close a deal right before the Lunar New Year. Local home owners and agents will most likely give you a better price around that time as signing a deal around that time will bring them luck for the entire new year.

Other things you may to know is that local people will not like to stay on 4th Floor (4 sounds like death) or rent something facing a graveyard.
So you may use all these little things when you look for a flat.

but there aren't that many 14s or 24s or 47 floors around these days for the newer buildings. why build floors that people shunt ? 8-P

Why not? If you took all the superstitions around the world you would not do anything. I have a wonderful view from my balcony and no one looks in on me. It does look out over a graveyard on the other side of the harbour but that does not worry me and if it saves me a thousand or so who am I to complain. Mind you would I live on floor 13?

13's actually good luck for me. It's the 4s I avoid.

The apartment I lived in Toronto which is also like that. They skipped all floors with 4. No suite on those floors and the elevator will not reach those floors. haha....that building is designed by Hong Kong Architect and a Hong Kong guy has property in that area.
