    Health Insurance

Can anyone please tell me what is the best way of assuring access to medical care and what may be the cost of medical care and medical insurance. I will (at some stage) be coming in HG on spouse's visa but after reading my husband's contract I realised that he has a free medical cover but I do not.
I do have ongoing medical issues which are not serious but require prescription meds. and I also have a physical disability which in a long run may call for another orthopeadic surgery. Therefore the medical cover is of a concern.

William Russel, AXA, Goodhealth........ all good. Just steer clear of the ones offered by cavities such as HSBC.

As a HKID card holder you will have access to hospital treatment more or less free - obviously if you want private rooms and stuff then that costs extra. For ongoing meds (i.e. a pre-existing condition) it seems unlikely that you would get insurance at a lower cost than that of the meds since Insurance companies are not charities - you have to give them more money than they give you, on average.

But no harm in giving William Russell a try to see what they say.

PDLM what about if you travel though? If something drastic happens out of HK it could be serious money out of pockey if you don't have global coverage.

Indeed - travel insurance is different, but that's only HK$1500 or so for a full year if you are only making occasional shortish trips.
