Not unless you have a work visa or ID card.
i do have an ID card but not here in japan where i`m coming from...it`s in the UK...so i want to enter with my passport...well i`ll find a cheap return flight i guess...
I've done it a couple of times, using the return-leg ticket of a HK-to-UK (and back) trip, and just having my passport.
HK immigration have never checked my ticket, only the passport. I only once got questioned in the UK about using the return stub and not having another ticket back, but I said my girlfriend had another ticket for me in HK as I ordered it online (as I did) and that was fine.
Really I don't understand half the immigration fuss on this forum. USA aside, the world's pretty damn open to everyone, especially westerners.
Botox: Why would you assume someone who has a brit passport is a westerner? Plenty of Indians with brit passports too... and yes, they do get hassled.
Tokyo: You'll be ok ... if they hassle you just given them your ID card number. I've walked through immigration without a problem with a valid visa.
If it's a HK ID Card, chances are you have a HK residence visa sticker in your passport. Presumably, you also know your HKID number. I think the only difference is that you have to fill in the entry form for HK Immigration and it may take a bit longer than if you had the card on you. They can check on their computers.Originally Posted by thetokyoproject:
