So who honestly can fill the position of HK CE? Raymond Wong? Cheung Mo?

Would you say that the Chinese PM is also incompetent? I would say quite the opposite. He seems a darn site cleverer than our officials.
It's not incidental at all. I think they are both intelligent and well trained. This is what raises my suspicions when they make such poor decisions.

If people are never given the chance to govern, we will never know.

Lee Cheuk-yan would be my choice.

Yes, good point. I was reading a bit about the NPC that is currently going on in Beijing and how it's changed to allow business into it's ranks. Now the combined wealth of over $200 billion USD is now rumoured to be within the 3000 odd delegates. So where has socialism gone?

Yes... and who elected these privileged tycoons to represent Hong Kong at the NPC?

I suppose the problem is really that in HK there is a dearth of poor choices whether from the Government or Pro democracy camps.

I just wonder whether any of the Democrats, DAB or Social democrats could fare any better.
They can carry out decisions but not make them. The British are good at making civil servants like this.

I wouldn't say Wen Jiabao is incompetent, but I do think the leadership in Beijing should share the main blame for the leaders they have chosen in Hong Kong since 1997.

It's true that there is a lack of good choices, but that is perhaps partly due to the system whereby only those who are in favour with Beijing could possibly be in power in Hong Kong.

At least under a democratic system, if any leader proved to be incompetent they could be quickly voted out of office. With our present system, the only way to remove those who are incompetent is through massive demonstrations (1 July, 2003).

Did they? While I am sure its a typo; the name is "Gandhi" (notice the misplaced 'h')

Yeah but the real power lies in Beijing. So who has heard of Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang? Even when they were announced back in 2007 everybody was scrambling to know who they are. They've been keeping their heads down not being controversial before coming to power.

Anyway what do I care. My mate is the soon to be chief of police in Zhejiang so I have it made!

No, because we trained them to be administrators. They were quite good administrators. Being a leader is a completely different skillset, and they are hopeless at that.
