    Donating Old Clothes.

    Hello,

Our stuff has just arrived and the realisation that we have bought far too many clothes and shoes has hit. We need to donate some to charity - do any of the charities collect from homes?

    Cheers

I tried to find places when I first arrived and found a pretty low level of interest here; I live across the road from Crossroads and they turned their nose up at clothes. So the clothes are now still in my cupboard as lugging them around was just too hard. Not sure why. Good luck. Let me know if you find anything.

Movin - there is a Salvation army down the road from Gold Coast !
Full list here, there are also other shops I've passed that are 'unbranded' too so there are a few. There are also often clothes bins dotted around places like libraries or housing estates etc too where you just dump it in.

We do have a big clothes collection bin (just like we used to have back home) at our estate in Tsing Yi, have seen and used them for years. I believe it's Caritas, but it has been a while...

To find a bin you can use this database (although ours seems not to be listed):

    https://www.wastereduction.gov.hk/ap...Go&textonly=1e
(select district on the top right)

Once we had almost 1000 T-shirts to give away, it took a while but somebody picked it up at the end (Salvation Army I believe). And I've seen somebody on the footbridge to the ferries at IFC with exactly that T-Shirt (it was a company promo t-shirt that was never used in HK, so I am almost certain it was from that batch).

If you haven't got enough options yet, St Stephen's Society (Jackie Pullinger's work) also accepts 2nd hand clothes. Their office phone number is 2720 0179.
