    >> why no efforts are made to enforce this law?

The men in black are busy with real law enforcement activities like monitoring domestic helpers selling lunch boxes.

    >> North American prescription drugs

Or their UK / European / Asian equivalents. Do keep in mind most drug companies are fairly global, but there might be bleeding edge medication which is not available.

Question health insurance, prescriptions and rules

I will be moving to HK in the next few months, and I've been on Fluoxetine for three years. Is it tough to get a prescription for this? I've been considering international health insurance (my company plan is poor at best) but it's so very expensive. Any recommendations?

Fluoxetine just being the generic name for what most people think of as Prozac - yes, no problem getting it here. Not sure of the price though.

Oral contraception is available over the counter. Quite a few brands in Watsons and Mannings.

At the end of the day, if you take antibiotics for every illness under the sun (common colds, cough, flu or some other non-viral illness), and make yourself immune to them. Who's stupid fault is that? Not mine... Your own! haha

Pharmacies are only there to help and make money... If you have a cough or a cold, just take some Vitamin C with added Zinc, get loads of rest when your not working and you'll be fine in no time. Works for me.

Also, alternative chinese medicine works, if your willing to dabble!

Er, it's not you that gets immune to the antibiotics, it's the bacteria, which then spread to other people in that form, and that is where the problem lies. If taking too many antibiotics only harmed yourself then there doesn't need to be nmuch control on it, but it harms everyone.

So I've also heard of imposter medications that don't actually work. There was some story about baby formula killing several infants, because it was actually an improperly manufactured copy of a real formula. Is this something to remain cautious about when purchasing meds like oral contraceptives or anti-depressants?

Not if you buy them from the main pharmacies like Mannings or Watsons.
