can a blogger identify who the readers of his/her blog are?

    Hello,

Have a question for the tech savvy people in this forum: can a blogger identify who the readers of his/her blog are, where the readers are located, and if so how? For example, if a blogger is based in Italy and I am reading the blog from HK and this fact is unknown to the blogger, how can this blogger tell that I am reading it from HK?

    Thanks in advance.

I use Google Analytics for my blog, so I know where most of my visitors are from.

Thank you both. On a side note, using web analytics, I understand that one can track visitors to Facebook page and other pages. As I am a tech novice, I read the help center pages and can't figure out where to copy the tracking code in FB.

Another query is: if I want to continue reading this person's blog without revealing my identity, how can I do this? Is there an easy way?

    Thanks in advance for insights.

Depending on how tech-savvy the blogger is you can in real time determine the visitor's location from their IP address. Don't need google analytics.

You cannot track facebook wall visits easily. There are some apps which claim they allow you to do that, not found anything that I feel will not compromise either the author or the visitor's access.

Generally if you want to hide your location, use a VPN.

    Thanks all.

A woman I know rants and raves on her personal blog and a couple of days ago I found a post where she wrote disparaging things about me, spreading mis-information and making false statements about me and then at the end she wrote that she dedicated the blog to me!! She works in technology so she is tracking her blog with google analytics and that's how she figured out that I am reading her blog. At this point I don't know what to do with this discovery.

Just considering my options, including ignoring her blog.
