Smile Bringing electrical items from the UK to Hong Kong

Hi there, my husband and I are moving to Hong Kong on the 6th August and wondered whether anyone could offer advice as to whether we should bring our electrical items e.g. tv, kettle, toaster, dvd player etc etc. If we did, would they work?
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance

The voltage and frequency of the mains here is as near as identical to the UK as you can get. The plugs are identical. So, nearly all of your electrical items will work. Your DVD player may be zoned i.e. only play DVDs from zone (region) 2. We here are part of zone 3. If your player is zoned and not zone-free (region-free) then it will not be able to play DVDs sold for HK use. Saying that HK does sell a lot of zone 1 DVDs from the USA.

Appliance-wise, moving from UK to HK was the easiest move ever, since voltage and plugs are the same! For once I didn't have to cut all the cords (they're pretty short after many moves) to put new plugs in!

DVD players are really easy to dezone, usually a google search on "dezone xxxx" xxxx being the model and make of DVD player will find you a forum where someone gives you the magical number needed to dezone your DVD.

EVERY appliance I brought over worked here fine. Not one problem.

UK Appliances - What about Henry? the vacuum

I read other postings which reassured me that my UK applicances will work here. But what about my faithful Henry? Will I be able to buy replacement bags for it? Thanks for everyone's advice. This website has been a huge help.
