hello
I am flying home for christmas and was wondering which airline was better, Virgin or BA economy? Also, does anyone have any experience flying Virgin premier economy, if so, is it worth the extra cost?
All opinions welcome, thanks

If you are short (under 5ft8) then Virgin
If you are tall (over 5ft8) then BA
If you have a bit of extra time (tall or short) then Emirates to Heathrow or Gatwick.
Premium Economy? I personally wouldnt bother -- go with Emirates and use the money you saved to do some shopping in Dubai.

thats nice... on holidays i always love stopovers! nothing beats visiting two cities for the price of a ticket
I normally fly Virgin for the inflight entertainment and also slightly cheaper then CX, but don't like BA at all. Also, Virgin & CX is via Heathrow Terminal 3, so better duty free shopping.
if you are flying economy, why not go on oasis and fly business class for the same price or less than economy on BA/Virgin?
Also, premium economy is definitely not worth it! Business class is good but only worth it if the company is paying!
I agree with you Andy. "C" class is worth if it's paid by the company or being upgraded by the airline. For price sensitive consumer, Oasis seems to be a good choice. To conclude, it depends what you want and how much you'd like to pay for it.
Hey Andy - any chance you could give a rundown on OASIS J (Biz) class either in this or by PM?
For other readers - I agree with Andy about Premium Economy - have done it a couple of times on BA and frankly, you're better off elsewhere. Also of note is Finnair are offering some decent J (Biz) class deals ex HKG here in AU at the moment. Happy to provide details if anyone wants them.
ok, it is a while since I flew Virgin but my feeling was that the seat configuration of their airbuses (which they use for the HK route) allowed for a bit more legroom than BA Jumbos. I have flown Premier Economy on Virgin (as a free upgrade) and found it quite roomy (I am 5'11") in terms of seat size and leg space. However, I have no idea the cost and so cannot say if it is worth the money.
For me the best seats on any airline are the ones by the exits, so just check in a bit earlier and grab one of those before someone else does.
Editing isn't working...

That's got some pretty good info on it.

Oasis business class is roughly 13.000 HKD return. The later you book, the more expensive it gets.
Friends came over from the UK on Air New Zealand economy and were quite happy with service, IFE and leg room.
