HK Permanent ID - can I get one?

I married a local lady in March - we have been together for almost 2 years, we are having a baby in early 2005. My question is: -

    • What level of residency can I apply for as I am married to a local?
I currently have a work visa sponsored by my company that runs until end of 2006 - is it worth getting any other level of residency? i.e. can I apply for a dependents visa or a perm. residency ID

    Any insights appreciated.

You are eligible for a dependents visa without resrtriction on stay (except that you remain married). This then gives you the right to work without your employer needing to sponsor you for anything.

As for PR- you need to have lived in HK for 7 years continuously.
However, if you've got a dependent visa without restriction on stay, that should be good for you to work in Hongkong.
