It is my guess that rainbows are rare in Hong Kong? It even made the news at midday!
Cool pictures though - cheered me up this evening.
I want to tell you that they are rare Matt_NT, they are not! Unfortunately, the real reason people take photos of rainbows in Hong Kong is the same kind of reason that people here carry DSLRs everywhere and take pictures of pretty flowers growing by horrid concrete estates or beautiful butterflies sunning themselves amid the debris of urban decay.

(The hype is becos of all the high rise, it's difficult to ever see a nice BIG rainbow.. there are no green pastures like those in Europe or USA,.. so us HK people cream ourselves when we see a whole piece)...
