Moving next month .. How to find dhelper in HK

    hi Everyone.

We will be moving to HK next month. I was just wondering if anybody has an advice for me on how to find a maid in HK. Our agency will help us in dealing with most things other than this.
We will be most likely living in the Kowloon Area.
How much is the current going rate for a full time maid?
Are there any thing else I should be aware of?
    Thanks a lot.

Going rate for a full time FDH is 37xx per month.

you can find thru the classified on this website or specialised agencies (al over hk).

The employment of Foreign Domestic Helpers (FDHs) in Hong Kong is regulated by law. There is a minimum wage, although you may choose to pay more. FDHs are required to take one 24-hour break a week; the preference tends to be for Sundays but it's up to you. FDHs also take statutory holidays off, not the general ones so learn the difference. As this is your first time, you might want to use an agency as they can assist with the paperwork you need to complete and submit to the government.

This guide from the government should answer most of your questions:

If you are joining an established company or have friends here already, my first recommendation would be for a referral. Ask your friends if they can ask their helpers, and you'll be surprised how many of them "know someone" who is looking for a job. You can set up a Skype interview with them some Sunday when they have a day off. If you really get along you can get some of the process underway.

The other option is go to one of the agencies and interview the dozens of helpers they have looking for work. Can be a bit overwhelming though.
