    Blackberry - Messenger and Skype?

    Hi,

I recently came to HK and brought my blackberry 8320 which has wifi capabilities. When I try to access messenger, i get "required service books not available". I've also downloaded IM+ for Skype and hoping it will work since my phone has wifi.

I also signed up for data services with Smartone.

I'm curious if any other blackberry users out there have encountered this issue before and resolved it.

    Thanks!

msn for blackberry hasn't come out yet.

there are a few paid for services. however i use eqo mobile.

if you decide to use this service, can you pm me as i think i get some sort of referral.

Did you have it unlocked in HK? I'm thinking of bringing it back but not sure if I should get it unlocked in states first?

Any updates on the help you were looking for?

back in the days of managing a factory, I use Blackberry/3 mobile service.

the bloody monthly plan is expensive!!
I think unless one is a financial manager (stock brokers), there is no way I need "instant email alert".
***Blackberry notifies the user about new emails within 2minutes upon receiving it.

I then switched to Dopod 818Pro, and join Peoples Mobile's unlimited access (by EDGE) HK$120 per month.
the PDA phone has built in "push mail" function, which I can check emails every 15minutes automatically. So it is fast enough for my work requirement.

Today, I switch to iPhone (cracked firmware 1.1.1 version)
it also has EDGE/Wi-Fi function, and push mail (again 15minutes automatic check emails), still using Peoples Mobile's service.
but my phone bill is much cheaper than Blackberry.
not to mention, the iPhone's Safari internet browser is the fastest and much more stable than Internet Explorer of WM6 OS.
**however, Safari (as of any Mac system) cannot access the HK jockey club for betting horse races or football matches, and it cannot access to some of the bank system.
**it works with Hang Seng Bank

fring looks great, shame it doesn't work on blackberry.

only problem with it is that you cannot see username in full which gives you some inconvenience to whom you are speaking to and wrong persons but its free. voice calls to Singapore is perfect with few exceptions depending on the wifi.
