Question Permanent ID without consecutive 7 years..?

My husband arrived to HK in 1993 and then left HK for a year and a half in 1998-99. What are our chances if we submit the application now? I has been almost 10 years and we are not going to move. Is there a way to convince the Immigration Dept?
    Thanks!

There have been rare approvals. I personally know someone who was transfered out of Hong Kong, but "maintained ties" .. as in he was employed by a Hong Kong company.

Best to ask them or an immigration consultant.

hi! My husband has a similar situation and he wants to try it anyway. If it doesn't work, he'll just wait for a year and a half and reapply.

Could you please recommend a good immigration consultant/lawyer? Thanks!

If I ask you to prove you've lived here for a particular duration of time, what could you show me?

You could show your income tax receipt, land tax receipt, rent payment receipts, bank records or your income slips.

If I ask you to provide me with a sworn declaration from a professional you know that would attest to your presence here, could you get it?

That should give you an idea of your chances, and how you can prepare. I hope.

He was here first on employment visa and of course, kept a lot of documents in file. Then, however, after going away for 1,5 years he stayed in HKG on tourist visas.

I would like to talk to a consultant about his case, can you please recommend me a specialist?

If am reading this right - your husband has been resident in HK on tourist visa's since 1999??? I reckon a tourist visa's will not count towards residency.

    my 2 cents

    cheers,

Hi- you can qualify for PR status if you have been ORDINARILY RESIDENT in Hongkong for no less than 7 years continuously.

Staying in HK on a tourist visa- does NOT count towards residency.
You should have RESIDED in Hong kong as a RESIDENT for 7 years.
