All the +++ taxes that exists in Singapore. One of things I hated about singapore was the ritual of calculating if something was +, ++ or +++.

Depending on your experience and professional background, 14K is a fair salary for 2yr exp professional. However, if you are at managerial level, you definitely should argue for 20K and above. Among expats, 14K is an incredible low number. Argue with your employer!!
This is my own experience as a underpaid marketing manager!!

Are marketing jobs competitive in HK?

If yes (which I always think so) and as I'm looking for employment in HK, rather than being solicited, my bargaining power is therefore low...

Hi Mod, it's quite true.

The bills ultimately come up to a rather high amount compared to what's being indicated...

It really depends...

I dont know how difficult to get a marketing job in HK, because I am still searching. A good way to get a decent job is through networking. So, it takes a while. So, if you may face several months without income (maybe you can do some freelance thing first to get some livable cash, in this case, I am not sure how well you know HK market. ) Alternatively, you just come with the employer first, living on the 14K (same as me.. but it is not enjoyable life, i have to tell you, esp if you want to mingle with the expats) ... and search new opportunity at the same time. ; )

"Mingling" is that what you youngsters call it nowadays?

But as Leanne can attest, one trick is to find some kind soul with a spare room who will let you stay in it for free for a month or so while you find your way around...

thanks everyone for offering your comments! I'm currently in Singapore and will be in HK for interviews next wk... c if the interview discussions touch on remuneration and i'll update u guys..

btw, what's the norm for interviews? Usually one or two rounds? In Singapore, it's two or more rounds.
