I live in a 520 sqft 1 BR apartment, have 1 Aircon (split type) set to 26 degrees plus 1 dehumidifier (set to 50%) running 24hrs/365days and use the washing machine with dryer at least 2 times a week. I never had a bill higher than 1200 HK$ for 2 months (= max 600 per month, average over a year about 450 per month).

I pay under 200 a month, but then I dont need aircon that much.main consumption through puter and fan. It has been like this for more than 3 years.

$600 in Winter to $1800 in Summer

    2 a/c on about 12 hours a day, 8 months a year....

We're pretty good about switching stuff off but, bottom line...the a/c is clearly the big consumer!!

Do HKE customers also get the HKD150 subsidy per month (which just stopped on 16.10.2013)?

Paid HKD1000 (after gov subsidy) for my 2-bedroom 700 fake sqf for the July/August period, which is the highest for me each year.
When at home the PC, TV (which serves as monitor) and hifi is always on, plus 1-2 air-cons during the warmer season.

Thus HKD1000 per month seems quite high.

I am with HK Electric and for the last three months I have been living in my 1 bedroom apartment (flying solo I may add) and receiving bills for over $1000 each month (not including first months $1000 deposit).

I never leave lights on unless I'm in the room, my aircon is on low when I sleep and very rarely any other time and I only do 2 or 3 washes a week and occasionally pop on the dryer.

Fro what I've heard from other people, I am paying way too much. Can anyone shed some light on the matter? Am I being fussy or does this sound about right?

    Many thanks

Running one aircon, one extractor fan and one dehumidifier 24*7 plus a second aircon from time to time, plus a PC, occasional TV, microwave etc got up to about $1500/month at peak for me this year. But I was at home most days so that tends to up the bill.

I think your bill is on higher side. When I lived in north point in a 1 bedroom flat with the usual items as Telly, aircon, water heater etc, and my bill never came higher than $400..
You can complain to HKE and they'll send someone to check your meter and if needed fix the issue.

To use the air con the same amount or less than everyone else, but with double the bills suggests its not simply an ac issue.

I lived in a 2 bed roof top walk up which was like an oven in the summer and never got bills that high.
