You're not going to be soft and pay the fine for her are you?

Have you contacted any of the temp expat nanny services that I suggested? If they can find you someone, it's only going to put you out of pocket for ten grand for two weeks, and given that you had previously said that your current project is going to be equivalent to several years' worth of maid salaries, just shell out for it.

You are now dealing with an obviously recalcitrant 'employee' who you have many times said that you do not trust with your infants. You cited a case just yesterday about how she left one of them in a physically dangerous situation. If she is continuing to go back and forth on wanting to be employed with you and she is sulky, surely she is even less trustworthy now.

I believe that I've even given you details in a PM on how to expedite the visa process for the new helper. Did you even try that route?

Get her out of your house, get out of her petty legal infractions, let her deal with the court case and the whopping (to her) fine. You have a business to run and kids to look after. Why are you wasting time on this?
Makes sense here. Why is the OP still bothering with her maid I wonder?

Is there something the OP is not telling us? Are we getting the full picture here?

    wont pay her fine..

I got a replacement coming - end of.. ( who says I get final word in these matters!!! )

we have her for 2 more weeks.. ( supposed to be 30th but we will let her go on the 16th when the missus gets off work for easter

waste time finding out if she needs to go court? seems to me she wants another bloody day off - ( she had the whole of las week off - ) I just need some one to look after the kids whilst I service the masses over the internet.

    - so wasting 20 mins on here to find out seems like a good trade off.. unless I get sucked off onto a tangent debate,,,,,,

Call the damn expat agencies already. 10 grand, 2 weeks, they specialise in short term placements and their people tend to be certified to Western childcare standards.

Go to Immigration. Plead your case. High % chance of getting your helper in before the end of month.

    Sorted.

Edit: She's been with you less than 12 months. She is not entitled to paid leave. If she goes to court, deduct the day from her wages. So let her make the call- if she insists on a day off then she doesn't get paid for it.

So you walk when it's red and you pay $1500 - but when you jump a read light with your car it's $490 ? Seems out of proportion.

Because when you jaywalk you might get killed and 1500 fine will act as a deterrent.
Where as when you drive, you probably will just kill a jaywalker and damage your car, so lesser fine..

BTW, wouldn't that crime be more suitable for a fixed penalty?

Scrambler, it's all well and good 'liking' my advice, but have you tried either of the suggestions or are you just looking to vent again?

If you're looking to vent, just be upfront about it and we'll pat you on the shoulder and say 'there, there' instead of try to come up with practical advice.
