Do not sign up with I-Cable for internet or cable TV!

This may have been touched on previously, but I just wanted to share my story about I-Cable.

When I first arrived to Hong Kong I set up my internet/cable TV service with I-Cable. At the time this was the only service available in my building. Since arriving I have moved and my service was recently about to expire and for the price I was paying I realized we could get similar connection speed at a relatively cheaper price in the new building.

I called I-Cable on two separate occasions through the general hotline, and clicked through the English hotline. On both calls their staff answered in Chinese and claimed they could not speak English (which they managed to say pretty easily in English). They said they would transfer me to the English team and again on both calls, on separate days and at different times of the day. The every member of the English team was coincidentally unavailable.

Fortunately my girlfriend spoke Chinese and was able to resolve the matter, but as a warning to English only speakers be wary of I-Cable as cancelling a subscription will not be easy.

For others in a similar situation talk generally about your account first so they reply in English and then tell them you want to cancel they won't be able to play the "I can't speak English card" after that.

It is not easy to cancel a contract with them. Check this -

LOL ... not surprised. Maybe they only speak that one sentence in English to explain that they don't speak English.
