    Are investment banks in HK hiring?

    Hi ,

    Wanted to know if the IB's in HK are still hiring in technology or
    there is a hiring freeze.

    it's very quiet and they're cutting staff right now, check with the big agencies etc to see what they say or have on their books.

    For the three major banks that I know anything of, they have hiring freezes in effect.

    Most are laying off people but don't be fooled by "hiring freezes"

    If you are really a niche player and have superb skills, people will use this as an opportunity to hire even if that means letting someone else go.

    You need to elaborate more on what your skills are, years of experience and what you are looking for.

    Forget managerial type positions - go for the hands on tech positions and you may find some opportunities exist.

    Which is a shame really since the mess we are in seems to me to have been caused by failures of management and over-enthusiasm about the ability of techs to generate wealth out of thin air.

    Katanga - true .. no algorithm could have ever figured out "don't lend $500K for a house that costs $150K to an unemployed man with a cocaine habit".

    Will there every be a mea culpa? Nah ... its already become someone elses problem.
