Expats planning to get married in HK

Hi! does anyone know if Expatriates or tourists are allowed to get married in HK?
If so, what are the things required to obtain one?

    Thanks!

Well Ive heard that a friend got married in HK and they are tourists provided that they have proper documents therefore it is not even illegal unless you get married and you have undergone any unlawful acts such as committing a crime. I think it's funny when you only want to get married then get prosecuted afterwards.

Ignore the clown. You can get married in HK as a tourist. Here's a definitive link from gov.hk.

    (b) Under the proposal, a marriage celebrated by a civil celebrant may take place at any hour and at any place. The private sector will therefore be able to provide diversified services more flexibly to meet the demand of the marrying parties. We believe that such developments, including the convenience, flexibility and wide-ranging choices offered by the private sector, will help attract more tourists to celebrate their marriages in Hong Kong and enhance the attractiveness of Hong Kong as a tourist destination.
LCQ12: Marriage Ordinance amended to provide flexible and diversified services

If you don't want to DIY it and beg for witnesses, I'd suggest finding a private service.

Regardless of the service on the wedding day, you do have to register, upto a month or six weeks in advance.

See the FAQ: Marriage Registration | Immigration Department
Q 1 : What are the procedures of solemnizing a marriage in Hong Kong?
Q 7 : What are the procedures of getting married in Hong Kong if both of us are living outside Hong Kong?

If either party is under 21, there are some additional steps

If you're not able to be in Hong Kong for at least 15 days, it takes a bit of preparation, because you need to
1)Mail in your "notice of intended marriage" (Q7)
2)Book a date/time for registration or find a civil celebrant - for 15 days after your Notice is received

However, you get your marriage certificate on the spot
