How to get a QTS with a PGDE

    Hello

I have a PGDE obtained in Hong Kong and I have 6 years work experience teaching here.
I'm planning on moving back to the UK to become a teacher.

Do I have to study all over again?
Does my PGDE count for anything?
How do I become a teacher in the UK?

    Thanks so much!

Make sure you research working conditions and pay for teachers back in the UK. IMHO it's less than great.

    *NEWSFLASH*

It has come to my notice recently that HK qualified teachers, i.e. those who have HK based PGDE's can now apply for HK QTS status starting from Feb. '23.

Major news, indeed. I am surprised that the HK media hasn't published this more, it seems. This may be the one of the biggest news of the past few years regarding the education sector, as it may have huge repercussions on the number of HK teachers who plan to move to the UK, in light of the BNO path.

On that note, I wonder if a qualification, such as a MA TESOL/Post Graduate TESOL from say, a UK university, would qualify for 'an English initial teacher training course' or not. Also, would an MA TESOL/PG TESOL offer 'professional status needed to be a teacher in the country where you qualified.' Important questions, indeed.
