    Post School Availability Towards Dec

    Hi…

My family and I will be relocating from Canada to Hong Kong at the end of this year. By the time we arrive, our children will have already started their school year—one in Grade 4 and the other in Grade 8.I have reached out to several schools in Hong Kong, but unfortunately, they have informed me that registration for the current academic year is closed. While they have offered to place us on a waiting list, we are exploring other educational options for the interim.

Could you please advise if there are any reputable online schools that offer mid-year enrollment, which our children could attend from January to June?
Our plan is to register them in a traditional school in Hong Kong for the following academic year.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi,
Best of luck to you. As one who relocated to Japan with a 14 year old, my personal recommendation would be to finish the school year with online Canadian school as the relocation is stressful enough. Also makes it easier for you. Most of the people who do online schooling in Hong Kong are foreigners so generally more choices for you than any Hong Kong schools. Others may have some suggestions. Again, hope you find what works the best for your family. If you do go with local schools in Cantonese, there are some programs offered by the education department for foreigners learning the language, was unsure what you meant by the word traditional.

Get on a few waiting lists. There is always some churn around Dec, esp in the Australian system as it is end of school year / summer holidays in Dec.

CDNIS is a bit of a lottery ... they have large waiting lists and they charge people to stay on the lists.

How does this charge work for staying on the CDNIS lists? Do you know how much? Thanks.

Have a look at DBIS and DIscovery College in Discovery Bay. Both good schools, the former with a UK based curriculum, DC follows IB.
