have you considered moving to sheung shui or fanling as you work in shenzhen, there are plenty of high class apartments ( royal green) or even expensive and posh houses ( eg beas river), even leon lai ( famous chinese/hk star) has moved here from happy valley a few months ago, taxi to lok ma chai will be cheap ( around HK$30 to HK$50),

    Royal Green

if sheung shui or fanling is not your cup of tea, then maybe fair view park.

surely you will save up to HK$4,500 on taxi alone by moving to a location which is geographically closer to your work place ( assuming that you work in shenzhen, hence why the 8 am sharp within the last message, are you a teacher or some sort?)

At a rough guess looking at his username I suspect he might be a lawyer....

Somebody told me about a green minibus direct to the other border crossing - might have been the 41 or 42, would have to check....
I think movingin07 is right, you are probably better off crossing there and catch a cab in SZ. In fact talk to the cabby especially the private cars, they probably can do a deal with you on a long term daily pick up basis

I don't know what the queues are like where you normally cross, but the one benefit I found of Shenhen Bay Port is that it's been pretty much deserted whenever I tried to cross!

i know that the one in sha tau kok ( obviously, most likely the quietest crossing) is also empty compared to lo wu, man kam to and lok ma chau.

    Hi all,

    thanks for the further advice.

I currently stay in the Tuen Mun area and live in a quite affordable and pretty modern highrise/apartment, and even though I would save money on the taxi rides, I would still pay far more for the rent, so ultimately moving to a place with better MTR connection to LMC would not really pay off, I'm afraid.

I think I'm going to try the Shenzhen Bay route once, just to see how much time it would take.

From Shenzhen bay to Futian will still cost you more than 50rmb and maybe 20 mins by taxi so i dont see the point really unless i m mistaken. Your better off taking the Green minibus that stops at Lok Ma Chau and taking the yellow bus over to Huangguan. Green minibus according to YPMAP only takes 20-30 mins.

surely, sheung shui and fanling is generally more affordable than tuen mun, so you will save on both rent and taxi.

I don't think it will be easy to move and live in shenzhen

The guy says he has a nice place to live in Tuen Mun and how do we know this job is not just a project that will end in a couple of months? Not sure suggesting he moves is actually particularly helpful. Lets see if any of the other ideas work first eh?
