You can compare Hotel prices here. Several hotels which are available at less than US$90/night.

i guess that no one here ever takes the bus to stanlely... it takes no where near 2 hours!!!!!!!!!!!! 45 minutes will usually do it...
now, depending on the time of day, the return trip could take over an hour due to traffic...

Oh, take ferry to Macau...you can even spend half a day in Macau. as to where to take the ferry, i need to ask my husband again

Yes, I took the bus to Stanley...prob no one except me. And it took me like 1:45 minutes...so roughly 2 hours...I might just take the wrong route, who knows...i'm not from here
No one in HK take bus to Stanley, because they have car...for me...everywhere is by bus, tram, and MTR

I'm not sure if you can apply for Chinese visa in Hong Kong. I saw the ads some agencies do Chinese visa...so I guess you could. But which agency, i don't know...you can check with your agency in your home country, or newspapers here.
    Regards

minack... i think that you live in a different HK than i do....
most people definitely DO NOT drive a car to stanley... most would take public transport, a very small percentage of Hkers actually have their own car...

the number 260 bus is the express bus from central...it goes through the tunnel rather than over the mountains...it takes about 45 minutes maximum(unless of course there is a car accient or road works going on)...the number 6 bus from central also goes to stanley, but it is not an express service, ie. it goes over the mountain and it takes a longer route... it would take about 1 hr-1.5 hrs...

i have been in hk for over 10 years now and rely soley on public transport....

ps. most travel agencies here can do china visas.. but the cheapest seems to be one called Japan travel services

    Anything else?? Let me know
    Mina
I thought HongKong is part of China, shouldn't we need visa to go anywhere in China. If so, can I apply a chines visa while in Hongkong?
    Thanks for the reply

The Citybus #6 shouldn't be 1 hour that long, and never will it take 2 hours. I have a video that documented the #6 bus and it took about 35 minutes and there were some delays in Queens Road East.

In extreme cases, or at night, 2 hours are enough for you to loop around HK Island. From Central, take 720, then take 14 at Shau Kei Wan, 73 from Stanley and M49 back to Central.
